Shakespeare Miami Romeo and Juliet 2011

When Colleen Stovall the producing artistic director of Shakespeare Miami called us to this year event we will never thought it was going to be such an amazing challenge, 2010 was a tough year for the Arts in Miami and as with many arts organizations, Shakespeare Miami found itself at a financial crossroads either charge admission and end free Shakespeare in the park or close the company.

Colleen was very fortunate to get the support from the owners of a shell lumber located in SW 27 Ave, who heard about the situation and graciously enough decided to contribute with the company by letting them use the Lumber as Venue for this year event Romeo and Juliet

When we first walked in it was magical, the lovely scent of lumber, the craziness of thinking about  turning a lumber yard into a theater, the amazing challenge of creating a design that will achieve this goal and also let the daily business to continue at the hardware store without having lights, sound, cables and trussing all over the place was simply too good to decline, we at Event Design Technologies love to take on unimaginable challenges and we were on board since the first walk in, it has been an honor to make this happen and being able to design, create and adapt to the play under the circumstances adding our extra mile to help Shakespeare Miami and Colleen Stowall to give another year of Free Shakespeare in the Park to the community
